Rev. Dr. Kevin Orr hails from Edmond, Oklahoma. He was nurtured in the Christian faith at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Having sensed a call to ministry in his teen years, Kevin attended Oklahoma City University, where he earned a B.A. in Religion. He then earned a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology, Emory University. In 1995, Kevin was ordained in the Oklahoma Conference as a Deacon and, in 1997, ordained as an Elder. In December of 1997, Kevin and his wife, Kim, moved to Ohio, where Kevin began serving in the West Ohio Conference. Kevin has served a number of churches in rural, suburban, and urban communities. In 2008, Kevin earned the Doctor of Ministry at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. His project focused on the practice of Christian hospitality. In 2017, Kevin earned a Masters in Theological Studies degree from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Kevin is also affiliated with the Order of St. Luke, a dispersed religious order committed to the sacramental life.
Kevin is committed to the belief that God is love, so God is relational. Human beings, created in the image of God, are designed to be in relationships that express love. The life and ministry of Jesus was all about demonstrating God’s love. Those who follow Jesus are those who are committed to demonstrating God’s love. To that end, Kevin has committed his life to proclaiming this vision and striving to embody God’s love by building relationships, honoring the sacred value of every person, and aspiring to dismantle all forms of oppression that minimize the value of people and do harm to life-giving community.
Kevin is married to his wife, Kim, since 1995. They have three sons, Micah, Noah and Jadon, and a pet standard poodle named Oliver.
